“Solutions” represent the Stiegelmeyer Group as a comprehensive supplier. This is also reflected in our Solutions logo. The images within the letters follow the human life cycle and illustrate how our solutions promote recovery and well-being from birth through to old age. The letter “L” is dedicated to furniture. Our portfolio enables comprehensive solutions in many areas – for example, in nursing homes, day centres or rehabilitation facilities. We spoke about this topic with Ilona Wiemann and Nadine Korber, marketing product manager and brand manager for the nursing home division at Stiegelmeyer.

How does this “comprehensive approach” manifest itself at Stiegelmeyer?

Ilona Wiemann: As a modern manufacturer of care beds, we first consider the resident’s specific needs and offer solutions tailored to them. But we also think beyond that and take into account the situation in new builds or renovations of nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities. With new builds, there are greater design possibilities, for which we can provide attractive proposals with our products. In the case of a refurbishment, the spatial conditions are fixed, and here too we have suitable furniture to meet the requirements.

Nadine Korber: This expertise is a unique selling point for Stiegelmeyer. Anyone wishing to furnish their premises with us does not need to contact dozens of different suppliers, but receives coordinated solutions from a single source.

What roles do our products fulfil in inpatient long-term care?

NK: The focus here is on the care bed with the matching bedside cabinet, as well as mattresses, accessories and digital assistance systems such as the Out-of-Bed system.

IW: When it comes to beds, the options range from universal to customised. It is important that our beds can be easily adapted to changing requirements. If, for example, a resident’s safety needs change, our Vario-Safe safety sides can be fitted or removed without tools. The Vario Safe system is also compatible across several models. Split safety sides, panels, and head and footboards can, for example, be interchanged between the Libra and Tereno beds. This allows the long-term care facility to respond to needs at any time. In times of a nursing crisis and high inflation, we support our partners in organising their work even more efficiently and economically.

Are there any specific additional requirements in other forms of long-term care?

IW: Short-term care often requires even more flexible responses to varying needs. If a resident who is 1.90 metres tall is admitted, the bed may need to be extended immediately. With our Tereno floor-level bed, the bed extension is already built in. The mattress base can be extended to 220 cm without any additional parts.

NK: The benefits of our customisable furniture are also evident in day centres. Cloakroom areas can be designed so that walking aids, such as rollators, can be stored safely and in a space-saving manner. Optional lockable storage compartments are also available, where guests can safely store handbags and hats.

The Stiegelmeyer Group has just brought its wood production facility in Nordhausen up to the very latest technical standards. We manufacture bedside cabinets and contract furniture there. What advantages do they offer when combined with our beds?

IW: I’d say “It blends in”. Our furniture has a consistent design concept that complements our beds very well. This is most evident in the handles and the wood decors, which match the range available for our care beds exactly. Our finishes also allow for recurring colour accents: for example, with both our Aparto bedside cabinet range and our wardrobes, you can choose different wood tones for the fronts and the corpus. This allows the furniture to be optimally adapted to the colour scheme of the interior and caters to the cognitive needs of the residents.

NK: Our furniture also meets many functional requirements. With the wardrobes, for example, you can choose between different sizes and then configure the compartment layout to suit individual preferences. Wardrobes and chests of drawers make good use of the available space and also fit into smaller rooms.

IW: Personalising their surroundings is very important to residents. On request, our wardrobes also offer open compartments where photos of family members or personal items can be displayed prominently.

How can these solutions support nursing staff?

IW: On the one hand, residents’ rooms are private retreats; on the other hand, they should also be equipped in such a way that they fit into daily care routines.

NK: One example is the excellent hygiene properties of our furniture. With the Aparto bedside cabinet, for instance, the table tops can be removed in a matter of seconds for thorough cleaning. Our wardrobes and chests of drawers have surfaces that are both homelike and easy to clean. All areas are easily accessible.

Let’s move on from residents’ rooms to communal areas such as dining rooms, lounges or staff rooms. What solutions does Stiegelmeyer offer here?

NK: We have tables, chairs, armchairs and sofas that can be used to furnish many areas of a facility. A good example is our stylish Fena chair range, which even includes a heavy-duty chair. The choice of fabrics allows for individual touches. And, of course, we design staff rooms to ensure a high quality of stay. You can see what’s possible at our showroom in Nordhausen.

In that case, a visit to Nordhausen is definitely worthwhile, as is the informative nursing home division on our website. Thank you very much for talking to us!

The Stiegelmeyer Group takes a comprehensive approach across all its divisions. Furniture is also available for hospitals and homecare. There too, it combines with beds and assistance systems to create well-designed room furnishings from a single source.
