The Stiegelmeyer Group is celebrating its anniversary in 2025
125-year quest for the welfare of patients, residents, nurses and care staff
125 years in the service of health, care and comfort: this is the story behind the Stiegelmeyer Group. It was in November 1900 that Johann Stiegelmeyer founded our company in Herford and thrilled early customers with his “steel wire mattresses” – sprung metal mattress bases that delivered a whole new sleep experience. Only a handful of years later, the first hospital bed emerged. But it was in the period from 1920 onwards, with Dietrich von Hollen at the helm, who went on to shape the fortunes of the company for half a century, that the company first forged its connection with the present-day shareholder family Kemmler.
Under the banner of values such as family-run, experienced, solution-focused and with a human face, the Stiegelmeyer Group has advanced to become the leading German supplier of medical beds. Right from the start, our continuing dialogue with customers was the beacon that guided our actions. Today, we combine our expertise with the requirements on the ground in more than 100 countries. “The welfare of patients, residents, nurses and carers is just as important to us as the success of hospitals and nursing homes currently facing enormous challenges,” explains Anja Kemmler, chair of the shareholder family. In the anniversary year of 2025, the team from Stiegelmeyer and Burmeier looks forward to joining with customers and partners throughout the world to set course for a successful future.
