Good nursing care is provided where people enjoy working. For the compassio Group in Germany, the working environment is therefore also a key factor in ensuring satisfied teams: modern facilities, supportive technology and teams that shape nursing care together.

“At compassio, we always consider nursing care from two perspectives: what helps the residents – and what makes our teams’ daily work easier? When both come together, we offer good nursing care – made easy,” says Christine Breyer, Head of Marketing & Communications.

Stiegelmeyer, one of Germany’s leading manufacturers of medical beds, makes a significant contribution to this. Stiegelmeyer and compassio are linked by a partnership with clear objectives: Stiegelmeyer is supplying around 2,200 care beds for current and future new builds. The new projects will be completed by 2030 in central and northern Germany. For example, the Merseburg care home near Leipzig is set to open as early as March 2026.

Compassio’s care homes are deliberately designed to be homelike, bright and welcoming. Modern single rooms, bright communal areas and open meeting spaces create an environment where both residents and staff can feel at home. At the same time, attention is paid to energy-efficient construction and sustainable building technology, including green roofs and solar panels.

Why has compassio chosen Stiegelmeyer? “For our facilities, we look for partners who combine quality, functionality and reliability,” explains Head of Purchasing Daniel Nix. Among the products used are the Elvido and Libra low-height beds with split safety sides. These models offer ergonomic benefits and support both the safety of residents and the work of nursing staff.

The level of support required by many residents has increased in recent years. Technical solutions such as height-adjustable care beds can help to ease the burden on nursing staff whilst promoting residents’ mobility and independence.

The compassio Group was founded around 20 years ago and is now one of the largest private care providers in Germany. The company operates numerous facilities across the country and cares for around 11,000 people. Around 10,000 staff work at compassio in long-term care, short-term care, day centres, supported living, services for young people in need of care, and non-hospital intensive care.

“Good nursing care always arises from the interplay of many factors – dedicated teams, well-thought-out architecture and technology that truly supports nursing staff. That is why, at compassio, we deliberately work with partners who share our standards of quality, functionality and reliability,” says Christine Breyer.

At a time of great challenges for nursing care, projects such as this demonstrate how partnerships between nursing care providers and industry can help to improve working conditions and further develop modern nursing care concepts.
