Industriekaufmann (m/f/d)

In this multifaceted apprenticeship you will get to know a variety of different departments such as materials management, purchasing, sales, marketing, human resources and financial accounting. You will receive valuable insights into the commercial processes within our company. The apprenticeship lasts 3 years and takes place within the dual study system between the Stiegelmeyer Group and the vocational college Berufskolleg am Wilhelmsplatz in Herford.

How I started my vocational training

I’m 20 years old and have been a member of the Stiegelmeyer Group since September 2024.

My industrial management assistant apprenticeship began in the central services department at Burmeier, a part of the Stiegelmeyer Group that is responsible for the Homecare division.

What I particularly liked when I joined the company was that people really took time for me as a new recruit to make this new chapter in my life as easy as possible.

As a result, I was given sufficient time to get to know the work system in place and have access to the various areas which make up our company.

Additional qualification as EU Industrial Management Assistant & dual study programme

At the same time as your Industrial Management Assistant training, you have the opportunity to gain an additional qualification as EU Industrial Management Assistant, which includes a 10-week international internship. The “Bachelor of Business Administration – Industrial Management Assistant” dual study programme combined with an academic degree course. After a 3-year apprenticeship, you can complete your degree with a bachelor thesis in just one additional year.

Economic knowledge during the degree course

“My degree in the field of Business Administration provided important economic foundations which I can certainly use in my everyday work. It’s a great opportunity to further develop your skills, both professionally and personally.”

Your apprenticeship as an Commercial Management Assistant for Marketing Communication (m/f/d)

Commercial Management Assistant for Marketing Communication (m/f/d)

In this very varied apprenticeship, you plan and develop communication measures and organise their implementation. You control production processes and monitor the budget. The apprenticeship lasts 3 years and takes place mainly in the marketing department and at Carl-Severing-Berufskolleg vocational college.

Design, communication and audience targeting

I was able to help with designing flyers, brochures and online content and was also involved in designing the website and looking after social media channels. In the process, I learnt how important an attractive design and clear messages are to attract the attention of the target audience. I was able to use my creative abilities and learnt a great deal about targeted communication, copywriting and the importance of providing consistent content across different channels.

Your apprenticeship as an Technical Product Designer (m/f/d)

The apprenticeship lasts 3.5 years and includes an extended final exam which is in two parts. The accompanying vocational college tuition takes place at Carl-Severing-Berufskolleg in Bielefeld.

Starting my Technical Product Designer apprenticeship

“My apprenticeship got off to a very positive start. I received a friendly welcome and was given a detailed introduction to the design processes and the software tools used. To start with, I attended 2 courses in Hamburg on the subject of CAD, which gave me a very good grounding. The team motivated me to be creative and continue to develop my technical skills.”

Your apprenticeship as an IT Specialist for System Integration / Application Development (m/f/d)

IT Specialist for System Integration / Application Development (m/f/d)

As a commercial management assistant for digitalisation management you are responsible for checking and optimising IT systems. You train the departments in the use of new software solutions. As an IT specialist for application development, you work to develop company-specific software and conduct testing. The apprenticeship lasts 3 years and the dual training takes place at Berufskolleg Lübbecke vocational college and at the company.

Taking part in system integration

“I was present when new hardware and software solutions were integrated. During this process I learnt how systems are coordinated with each other, how to recognise sources of error and how to find solutions. This showed me how complex and exciting the work of system integration is.”

Experience in the field of IT security

“I got off to a very exciting start since I was allowed to take part in implementing safety measures. I learnt how to protect networks and keep data secure. This sparked my interest in IT security and data protection.”

Participation in warehouse organisation and the dispatch process

“From early on I was allowed to help with the organisation of the warehouse. In the process, I learnt how to load racks, optimise storage areas and maintain an overview.
